Day 1 Arrival in Tromsø

Arrive at Tromsø Airport and pick up your car rental. Tromsø is the city of adventurers looking for unforgettable experiences. Since the middle of the 19th century, it has been an Arctic hunting center and a starting point for shipments. Located at 69 degrees north – Tromsø is 320 km above the Arctic Circle. Tromsø is home to the University northernmost in the world, a brewery, a cathedral, a glass factory using blown glass, a botanical garden…All of this in a beautiful setting surrounded by dramatic mountains and crystal clear blue water. Finally, the city
has some of the highest levels of Northern Lights activity on earth, making it the perfect destination to observe this phenomenon.

Day 2 Discovery of Tromsø and snowshoe outing

Breakfast at the hotel. Tromsø, located about 2000 km from the North Pole, is a center of research, education and commerce in the Far North. Tromsø also has a cultural scene, and a renowned cuisine combining fish, game and international spices. The locals are known to be welcoming and largely English-speaking. The people of Tromsø love their city, and they can’t wait to tell you why…From downtown Tromsø, you go on an excursion (on the trails around Tromsø with an English-speaking guide in a small group. At a gentle pace for adapt to beginners, you cross the snowy paths and learn to master this ancestral means of transport.

Day 3 Snowmobile outing to see the Northern Lights

Breakfast at the hotel. You wake up after another night in Tromsø. On the program, you can first opt ​​for a visit to the Polaria Museum or the city’s famous Arctic Cathedral. In the afternoon, g out of town to start your snowmobile excursion! The track covers a distance of 30 km in total, with a drop of 625m. With two people on the snowmobile, you can change pilots in the middle of the trip. The highest point of the track is a frozen lake, where you can accelerate. Weather permitting, you can also try ice fishing on the lake, a traditional fishing technique in northern Norway. With a little luck, the Northern Lights will show up and light up your path with these shimmering colors dancing in the sky! Note: the excursion can be replaced by a husky safari. At the end of the trip, you will be served a hot meal in a lavvu (Sami tent), before returning to Tromsø.

Day 4 Trip to the Vesterålen Islands (260km)

Breakfast at the hotel. After a smooth start and perhaps a final visit to Tromsø, today you travel west towards the Vesterålen Islands. Possibility of stopping at Bardu, where you can visit the Polar Park. This is home to lynx, bears, wolves, wolverines and polar foxes. You will discover the animals in their winter coat, thick and well furnished, and will be able to meet the packs of wolves that live and hunt in the park. You follow the fjord and cross new postcard landscapes to arrive at the village of Evenes for the night. On the shore of the Ofotfjorden, Evenes is the gateway to the islands Vesterålen and Andenes.

Day 5 Discovery of Vesterålen (220km)

Breakfast at the hotel. A smooth start after the long day yesterday. This morning you are heading north to the Vesterålen archipelago. Drive along the Vesterålen road to Andenes via the scenic route to the west of the island. You cross magnificent landscapes and can admire the snow-capped mountains alongside the sea. Arrival in Andenes and installation at the hotel. Why not go out to see the small lighthouse in the village, or try to spot the northern lights far from the light pollution?

Day 6 Zodiac whale safari in the Vesterålen Islands (210km)

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, departure by zodiac for the open sea of Andenes. It’s one of the few places in the world where whales are observable all year round because of the climatic conditions which are very favorable to them: the plankton is abundant there and the climate and the sea currents suit them well. If you are lucky, you will see humpback whales, fin whales, white-sided dolphins and “pilot” whales, but also the famous sperm whale and the elegant orcas, also called killer whales. Also be sure to keep an eye out for the many birds present in the area, especially the adorable puffins with their colorful beaks. Road to Lofoten and first night in your fisherman’s rorbu!

Day 7 The tip of Lofoten (variable)

Breakfast at the hotel. You are in Lofoten, one of the most beautiful places on earth. An archipelago made up of mountains falling steeply into the sea, fine sandy beaches, small fishing villages with their cabins on stilts. Without forgetting unique colors and light. You get back behind the wheel to venture further into the Lofoten Islands. The villages of Henningsvær, Nusfjord, Reine and Å are worth a visit and you will fall in love with their little red rorbus with their feet in the water. If you are interested in Viking culture, the Lofot Museum is an unmissable stop on your way.

Day 8 Sea Kayaking Tour

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, an incredible day awaits you: you are going to excursion in the Lofoten fjords by kayak! After you be equipped with paddles, you board the boats for a discovery of the archipelago from the sea. Don’t forget to bring your picnic because the day will be long. For 4 hours, you are on an excursion and paddle from one fjord to another. Set sail for the Risvær Islands or other bays in the fjord. You will certainly have the chance to see many seabirds, but perhaps also seals or porpoises!

Day 9 Farewell

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the Lofoten one last day before heading back to Evenes. Return of the rental vehicle. End of stay
