Day 1 Arrival in Stockholm

Arrival at Stockholm airport and collection of your rental vehicle. Depending on your arrival, we recommend that you visit Skansen Park. You can also opt for the open-air folk museum retracing the Swedish way of life and culture through reproductions of houses, farmhouses from all eras, and craft workshops.

Day 2 Discover Stockholm

Breakfast at the hotel. Discover Stockholm, an elegant and spacious capital dotted with islets. Take the time to visit the medieval quarter of Gamla Stan, with its winding streets lined with stalls, the Town Hall and its high square tower which offers a panoramic view of the city, the Royal Castle, very rich in historical memories, the museum seaport of Vasa, located on the island of Djurgården. You can admire the Vasa warship, refloated after a stay of more than 300 years in the port, as well as many other archaeological remains.

Day 3 Road to Dalecarlia

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards Uppsala, a leading university town in which stands the Uppsala Domkyrka Cathedral. Uppsala is also the birthplace of artist Ingmar Bergman, botanist Carl Von ligne and writer August Strindberg. Continue on to Dalecarlia, “the most Swedish of regions” due to its immense forests and red wooden cottages. After crossing the town of Avesta, discover the national symbol of Sweden, the Dalahasten (the famous wooden horse). Next, pass through the picturesque village of Sundborn where you can visit the home of artist Carl Larsson who is representative of Swedish interior design.

Day 4 Crossing Lake Siljan

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning set off towards the surrounding area around Lake Siljan which is known to have a colorful gorgeous blue. Start your day with Rättvik, then Nusnäs, where you can visit if you wish the production center of the Dalahasten, this toy for children which has become the national symbol of Sweden. Continue to Mora, which is the birthplace of the painter Ander Zorn where you can visit his house, connected to the museum with an incredible collection of his works.

Day 5 Crossing the countryside

Breakfast at the hotel. Start your day by driving towards Karlstad via the paths of the lush forests of Dalarna. On your way, you will come across the town of Malung in the Värmland region which is crossed by the Klarälven river. Also visit Mårbacka and the home of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, who was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909.

Day 6 The Swedish coast

Breakfast at the hotel. Continuation of the circuit to the west coast of Sweden, Bohuslän, which consists of sloping cliffs and more than 8000 islands. Visit the Tanumshede Stone Carvings dating back to the Bronze Age (1800 BC). Continuation on the coast and visit the many villages such as the very charming village of Lysekil. At the end of the day, arrival in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city. Take advantage of the many restaurants and tourist attractions the city has to offer.

Day 7 On the shores of Lake Vättern

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a morning city walk along the famous ‘Avenyn’ Avenue, Gothenburg’s main street. Then continue your journey through Lake Vättern and the city of Jönköping. Stop at Gränna which is well known for its production of ‘Polkagrisar’, a hard candy traditionally made from peppermint, but which can be found today in many different flavors. Continue along the east coast of Lake Vadstena to the Monastery of Saint Birgitta, established in the 14th century and still active today. Continue your journey without missing the visit of the romantic Örebro castle, surrounded by a moat covered with water lilies. Continue towards Västerås.

Day 8 Stockholm

Breakfast at the hotel. The city of Västerås has a charming historic center can you can explore before you return to Stockholm Arlanda airport where you return your rental vehicle.
